Progress Update 4-14-16 Roshan

I’ve been steadily making progress on my project and working towards getting the colors transitioning smoothly. I finally got around to figuring out how its all going to fit together from a structural standpoint. I put together a quick and dirty “pretotype” of the structure, and I’ve included a few pictures (that don’t really do it justice) of it running. I’ve added in lighting below the Flatirons to help show the shape of them in the dark.

Tomorrow, I’ll be cutting out the pieces for the structure that I made out of posterboard and cardboard in the picture. I’m going to try out wood and see how that looks, but if it doesn’t fulfill the aesthetic I was hoping for, I might try out black acrylic. I also will need to cut down the diffuser panel so that I can use the other piece of it for the lights that are below the Flatirons. Also, here’s a video (Link: https://youtu.be/8cxztM9Jn1Y)! Unfortunately, the refresh rate and timings are all off right now, but that’s a fine tuning procedure for the next week!

As you know I’ve been following your project for a while now and I’m always intrigued by how far it has developed, but seeing these images on your most recent post leaves me speechless. I literally just looked at your first image and said ohhhhhhh man. (which is a good thing) I guess I’m still not 100% sure what the final product will look like and I’m wondering if it could take up a little less space than it does right now. I do however agree with Chris that you should try to get some really high quality images that would really reflect how nice it looks.

That video is mesmerizing. Once you focus on the flatirons and try to imagine them in your head, the video takes an entirely new effect. This project is flexible in that you can create custom backgrounds behind the flatirons, which allows for you to play around alot before deciding on a final color scheme. If you have a high quality camera, I think you could really get some amazing images for the final report.
