Cool prototype. How are you going to really make this thing pop. I would suggest adding in some sort of really cool dynamic parts so that this thing appears to be a normal box and then has some cool hidden features.
I really like how your upcycle project turned out. I think that you are very comfortable working with this material and you have a lot of good ideas on the way. I think that laser engraving pictures in the side of the box will give it a clean and personal look. I am looking forward to see your final product.
If your craftsmanship from the upcycle box is any indication for whats to come, then this is going to be a very cool box. Adding LEDs will definitely give it that extra flair. In keeping with the lock box design, have you though about the security of the hinges and fasteners you will be using? Tamper proof screws could be useful, I imagine corian can be difficult to tap though. I can’t weight to see the final design.
I think you have some good ideas, just have some kinks to work out manufacturing wise. I like how you have defined your own aesthetic, and how you are portraying it. Also I have recently found some great resources for programming the LED light strip if you would like some help with that. I’m excited to see which shape, colors, and ideas you end up rolling with, you still have a lot of options to consider but I’m sure you’ll find a good end product.
I like the material you are working with and I like that your project will be given away as a gift. I think incorporating a few different shades of corian to the different sides of your box would add a nice touch and also provide some good variation. Also a curved shape instead of a typical box is a great idea that would make your gift that much more unique. Excited to see how this turns out!
Very nice inspiration especially to use it as a gift. The materials you are planning to use are really interesting, I am just wondering if the laser cutter would be able to engrave/cut in those with no problems.
