20th Century Design Influence

The main aesthetic movement that has influenced the design of my final project is organic movement. I am planning on using both the shapes and curves used in this movement, as well as physical organic objects to achieve this design. Below, I’ve included a sketch of one possible way for me to create an organic design. This one includes a section from a tree branch as the wheel and an almost hourglass figure as the mount.

My second design option involves using a leaf shape and design for the mounting part. In this option, a tree branch section will still be used as the spin wheel.

My last aesthetic option is using a different aesthetic. This will be an industrial/mechanical design which matches my area of study. In this design, two gears would be used as the the spin wheels (one for belts and another for ties).

As an engineer, I really enjoy the mechanical version with the gears and the bearing pillow showing. That could be something that looks great in the Idea Forge, but unless your home looks like that, it may be out of place.
The organic seems the best. Maybe there is a way you can combine different features from each. Figure out a way to use the gears to power your rotating parts.

I agree that you should definitely use something that embraces the organic movement. I think your project would not look as good if you used something from the tech/matte or super modern aesthetic eras. I think that the mechanical drawing that you drew actually does look awesome though, so you may consider this. You could also consider an art deco theme, this may look cool with what you are trying to accomplish. Good work!
