  • This project just looks great! The design you picked and the details on the final project make it a great decoration and gift! I like the “snow melting into ice” feeling of the support, too!

I love your design. So simple and elegant. I have no doubt your mom will love it! I was deeply impressed by the detail in every element of your design. I remember looking at the fingers and the metal edge of the skates on your ice skater at the expo and thinking how precise and well-planned your design must have been for them to turn out so tiny yet flawless. The snowflakes were a great touch too.

  • This project came out great! Your sketches were some of the highest quality I’ve seen in this class this semester; great job! The aesthetic of the silver snowflake, the frozen pond, and snow all really came together to create a perfect ornament that captures the spirit of the holidays. It’s a good improvise you made at the last minute with the card stock replacement of the spinning dancer. I’m sure it’ll make a great mother’s day present!

The water jet for the figure skater turned out super well for this and it is a total shame that the holder and rotary system is so easily offset. Seeing how easy it is to get the candle holder to become unbalanced there is a large challenge ahead of getting the aluminum version to balance on top. The rest of the project with the glass and the cotton balls ties the scene together really well. This totally reminds me of a chrisms decoration and i ca see it fitting in with how you described your moms house during the holidays. Nice work with the presentation and explaining the whole design and building process including all of the troubles that you encountered along the way.

Nice project! I appreciate your concern for trying to not catch it on fire but i don’t think you should be that concerned! The paper is very far from the candle. Even if the card stock somehow caught on fire it is away from everything else. I think your mom will love it! I want one of the ones that goes in a cabin.

This piece is really beautiful, you should definitely find a way to get the figure skater to stay on the piece – I think the metal skater really makes it. I think this would perfectly match the figure skating or Christmas theme you saw this fitting into. Getting the moment right on the figure skater sounds incredibly difficult. It might be easier in the future if you could somehow weld the skater to that point and not need it to be so well balanced.

Your project turned out great, and the use of snow, ice, and the skater really accomplishes your aesthetic. I think that your ice and use of cotton for snow is really well done. Also, I just want to say your drawing skills are really good, and I think that if you wanted to you could make the log cabin candle with the trees and wolves. Great work, and a really cool project!
