Making ski furniture is such a Colorado thing to do. There is a shop in Woodland Park that sells only ski furniture, and I love driving by and checking it all out. The ski aesthetic is very effective, and wood stained black worked well with it and really added to the look.

Great job. The black color of the wood goes really well with the color of the skis. I like how the look of the skis as legs for the table. If you do another, you could extend the drawer down and make a cabinet out of it.

This turned out really great. I did a slight pivot on my project as well and it has turned out well. The storage space creates a nice dynamic aspect and the overall look and quality are much higher than I would have expected from a table built of old skis. Great job!

Your design has evolved in ways that are entirely successful both in terms of aesthetics and function! I would love to see a full set of ski furniture produced in this same aesthetic. I was also impressed by your decision to incorporate a storage space and believe you did this well. Your use of black finishing adds to the perception of quality in your design. I am also happy the legs are skis – no wood. The physical strength/stability of your design is well considered.

This turned out really well. It is very well finished, and would be right at home at any ski lodge or cabin. Your level of craftsmanship was very high, and the aesthetic is brilliant-it is clearly not just a table with some skis screwed on. This is really impressive! I think you could make more furniture (chairs, a coffee table utilizing the full length of the skis, etc) and really get a theme to a room going.

  • This is a great idea! Even though you transitioned, it still came out great and will be a functional piece of furniture you will have to remember your fun times skiing. I like how it still is level, even with the pointy skis and hinge system that you created.

As for the gaps on the surface, could you put a piece of wood under the backside to prevent items from falling through. The black paint looks sleek, but I still think skis would look even better covering the black paint.

You should try to make another one with the remainder of the skis. You could have matching end tables!
