Personal Skill Sets

What I learned in Engineering/Here’s what I’ve got: As an engineer at CU Boulder, we all take the same classes, all do the homework, and all complete similar projects. However, it’s what we do in our free time that makes us unique in the workplace and on teams. As an engineer, I have had few opportunities to work hands-on to be creative. Below are a couple projects I have accomplished. I have worked in the ITLL machine shop, and have therefore used/have access to most of the resources available as a CU student.

Guide Rails for an Aerospace Project
Chess Board Made with Walnut and Maple Wood
Book-Ends for Aesthetics of Design

Aspirations: I would like to broaden my knowledge of woodworking and metalworking as the final project approaches. I have a couple ideas in mind and hope to learn a new skill. In short, I aspire to encompass a wide variety of skills when I emerge into the workforce.

I truly admire you being a machine shop gal. Having different machine shop skills is something I aspire to have. I am glad that you are on my team. I am excited to see where you take those skills with you and how you apply them outside the enigeering world.

  • It’s so cool that you have worked at the ITLL machine shop. I still remember when I first got a product engineer job I was having a hard time using the machines. I think your experience with the machines with be very beneficial in your career!
