What I can do and what I want to be able to do

Like many of my classmates, I am studying mechanical engineering and therefore have many of the skills associated with the MechE curriculum. Thermodynamics 2 was one of my favorite classes here at CU so I could try to help current students, but it has been I while since I took it (Spring 2017). I also have a pretty good understanding of heat transfer. I have acquired skills beyond mechanical engineering through various personal projects and work experiences. I have spent a lot of time working on vehicles. I have two classic car restoration projects. The featured image is my 1970 Chevrolet El Camino. The other restoration project is a 1971 Jeepster Commando. They have not yet been completed despite having been underway for many years due to lack of time, but I hope to make a lot of progress after graduating in May. I do all of my own automotive maintenance and repairs; from changing oil to swapping engines. In addition to cars I have worked on the 4~5 motorcycles I’ve owned and many full size buses. I also have bits of experience with automotive & household wiring and wood & metal construction.

I have also have non-technical interests and hobbies, primarily photography. I am weirdly loyal to Pentax for no particular reason. Similarly, I prefer GM cars to Chrysler or Ford. For no particular reason. I should probably read more books than I do.

I plan on pursuing the career of an airline pilot after graduating. The skill of flying and all associated certifications are what I will be working on after this chapter of my life. One of the main draws that a pilot career has, at least to me, is the unordinary scheduling, which allows more time for other pursuits such as entrepreneurship. Perhaps more relevant to this course and shared by my classmates, is that I would like to be better prepared for the FE exam. Even though I may not ever sit at an engineer’s desk, I would like to pass the FE. Two thing that I have tried once, enjoyed, and would like to do more and snowboarding and mountain biking.
