20th Century Aesthetics: Kinetic Sculpture

Half of my aesthetic is based on the works of Alexander Calder, who’s use of geometric shapes and thin lines could be classified as modernist. Although he did work in the late 50s – 60s and used color in a way that reminds me of De Stijl. The abstract nature of his sculptures could also be considered surrealist. As for the other half of my aesthetic, I wouldn’t say it fits into any 20th century design movements, since it’s based on Chinese culture, which predates those movements by several thousand years.

Moving onto the three variations, I decided to sketch my sculpture in an Art Deco, Streamlining, and Art Nouveau
