20th Century Design Aesthetics: Shadow Art

For my final project, I want to create an artwork that casts different shadows as it rotates. I have discussed my original design aesthetic in my previous post. This is my original design:

Here, I explored other design aesthetics inspired by the 20th-century including organic design, biomorphism, and streamlining:

arabic, calligraphy, light, shadow, shadow art

That’s awesome! I really liked using Arabic words in your design. As you know, Arabic has a lot of beautiful fonts that can be used in such projects. One of the oldest fonts is writing without any dots and I think it might be awesome to use. I’m excited to see your final project, Good Luck!

I really like the idea of rotating the artifact to create the shadow, you should see if there’s ways to play with the outlines so they interact to create different patterns!

  • Your sketches are so cool! I think you have really good sense of art and a very clear idea of what you are creating for this project. May I ask what app you are using for the sketches?

I like how you explored both biomorphism and organic design. The two both compliment and contrast each other. Very clear sketching!
