20th Century Aesthetics: String Art

image 0

When comparing my current project idea to the string art of the 20th century, it can be seen that the string art of the past is a lot more detailed. The details of the entire ship can be seen and even the waves are created by the type of string used. When looking at string art of the 21st century, it is a lot more minimalist of designs. There are more clear outlines and symmetry. It would be interesting to paint a picture with the caliber of detail used in the 20th century.

  • This is really cool. I actually had no idea that string art was even a thing in the 20th century. I though it was sort of a new hipster trend. I’m not sure which I like more, although I would say the 20th century style would take more skill and patience!

  • Interesting how detailed this was back then. I think the detailed older pieces are much more eye appealing

Interesting contrast between the 20th and 21st centuries. I would have like to see more picture examples of what you’re talking about.

Do prefer the string art of the 20th century of that of the 21st century? Perhaps the 20th century string art is more detailed because nearly everything took longer back then, so artists were more willing to put in the time it takes to create so many details.
