Final project Report 2: Wall Clock

My project is building a wall clock with a Mechanical Engineering theme that includes tools such as gears, wrenches and hammer. My initial design include the use of gears that can rotate And tools for the numbers on the clock corresponding to the clock time.

after researching my options in building a rotating gears, i found that an external motor was required, and since my device does not have any space to mount that motor, i decided to let go of that idea.  building a case for the clock would have solved the issue but i felt that a border case would take away the aesthetics that i am going for. I believed that the functionality of the project was not my priority rather the aesthetics was.

This course did help me expand my design skills and discover the struggle to balance between the aesthetics and the functionality. I was always bad at sketching and unfortunately i still am, even though Dr. Hertzberg  had many sketching lessons. i probably need more practice.

thank you all for this wonderful semester and i wish everyone succeed  in their careers.

Hello Aziz, your final project came out really good. It is awesome that you were able to incorporate so much of what you learned in mechanical engineering into your final project, and project an aesthetic that falls in line with all of this knowledge. Great job!

Very nice project Aziz, I like how you are emphasizing your engineering background by showing it in your furniture. I remember your first project when you made a drawer with a built in phone charger, I think this category suits you. I’m glad you were able to improve your design skills as it will be extremely useful if incorporated in your future engineering design.

Dr. Hertzberg’s lessons on sketching have been great but I agree, I can still even further improve my skills as well. Your final project turned out great, awesome job!
