For my final project, I will be creating a rustic, industrial wedding arch. I really love the strong, geometric lines of a hexagon, combined with a rustic, floral accent. I was inspired by these wedding arches which stray from the traditional arch:
So I decided to make a hexagonal wedding arch, using copper piping to bring out this industrial aesthetic:

I intend to use an arduino-controlled dimmer to attach Edison bulbs to the arch and dim them randomly, one at a time. Also, adding floral foliage would really help soften the industrial aesthetic to give a rustic feel.

First off congratulations on the engagement and it’s so exciting to get to try and create these projects. Given the virus I hope you can still find a way to make your day special with something awesome you’ve made. Cool project! I really like how you plan on creating this project for your upcoming wedding! I might have missed it during your presentation, but what do you plan on using code for in your project?
I like the aesthetic you choose I think the design plans you have so far will make a very beautiful piece. How large will you make the arch and will this have an effective on price? I think you should play around will different placements of the flowers, succulents, and lights that way you can find the look that is best.
The rustic industrial aesthetic you are going for is one of my favorites! I’m extremely excited to see the final product when you are done. Something like this that can be both structurally stable and deconstruct-able shouldn’t be too bad. I would recommend taking a walk around Ikea or American Furniture Warehouse and looking at how the joinery on their furniture is done.

Congrats on getting married!! Also the rustic/industrial aesthetic looks very cool and modern and would look great in a wedding setting. The idea of making it able to be collapsed and reassembled is very cool, would make it more practical and give it more use for after the use at a wedding.
