For the second part of my disc golf design, I received half of my material yesterday from McMaster-Carr but I am still waiting for my T-slot piping. My plan is still inline with my original plan. To build the frame by the beginning of Spring Break and then work on designing the side and back panels out of acrylic. With all the issues with the virus now, I find it difficult to see the future for the rest of all of our projects. With limited to no contact with the rest of the students in our class I will have a difficult time with the skill share portion of this class. Anyways besides that, things are going smoothly. Since the material that I ordered is T-slotted, I will not have to have anything machined, and will be able to fabricate the whole frame in my own house, though I will not be able to laser cut the acrylic but that will be later on in the semester.

It is good that you will not need any machining as this is no literally no longer an option. Its crazy to see how the virus is impacting all of our projects, I have a feeling a lot of them will not be able to be completed or will have to take an entirely different form. Best of luck to you though.

  • Joseph, glad to hear you should be able to proceed without the need for machine shops or other school resources! Have you thought about solutions for the acrylic yet in case things don’t open back up? Otherwise, it sounds like you’re on a good track and I’m excited to see your project come out!
