Design Review Logistics and Timeline: Cycling jersey

I know that most people’s timeline on this project has been hijacked by COVID-19… mine included. I was actually hoping to use the laser cutters to get precise cuts of the fabric patterns I am going to use. But not a problem. Instead, I will trace patterns from mtb jerseys that I already own and fit me great. Luckly, me and my wife have a sewing machine at home, so I will be able to keep on going with my project.

Logistics

I will be purchasing practice fabric (100% cotton) from Walmart, for the first two prototypes.

For the final version, I will either use some sort of Dri-Fit polyester wicking fabric, purchased from The Fabric Fairy (fabricfairy.com), or a summer wool blend purchased from local Boulder shop, Elfriede’s Fine Fabrics. I will take into consideration which fabric will do better with the fabric paint and price. Wool can be range from $32 to $60 per yard, while the dri-fit wicking fabric is around $10 to $15 per yard.

Although the wool is more expensive, it is desirable to me because it is 100% wool which is better for the environment as it eliminates the possibility of polymer microfibers being released into the environment from a polyester blend. It would also be supporting a local Boulder shop.
