Design Review Part 1: Video Game Children’s Stories

What is This?

I wanted to make an animation that retold old children stories (like Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise), except with various video game characters in a soft, cute aesthetic.
The animations would be less than 5 minutes per book, unless the book is exceptionally long.
The entire animation process is based off of Rosalina’s Storybook from Super Mario Galaxy by Nintendo:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QG9r4sR0ZIo

Progress

While formal progress on the animation has not been made, a storyboard script has been constructed and seen by clicking on this link, and some mockup aesthetic drawings have been made.

The entire process is to be constructed digitally, so all frames will be accessible on a digital format. I will also likely be doing short videos on process.

Thank you!

I love how unique your idea is. As I’ve seen, most people are making projects that are tangible and physical but I enjoy how you’ve taken a change to this and are creating something digital. How do you plan on animating it? Will you be drawing each frame or using a software that will help in this?

I really like how you took this as an opportunity to move away from something physical and practice a skill like drawing that you clearly have been honing for a while. Have you put any thought into what narrative you want to explore with this project?

I like the kawaii edits and hope this project turns out well!
