Meridith’s Skill Set for Team

Hello there —

I am a Computer Science/TAM major so if you need help with any coding (C++ or working with the Arduino IDE) I can definitely lend a hand.

I have quite a bit of experience with Adobe CC Photoshop, AfterEffects, and Premiere, if that proves useful for someone’s project. Or if anyone is interested in glitching images, I can help with that too.

I am learning Rhino 3D and will have the chance to 3D print this semester, and could help my teammates model with Rhino/3D print if they are interested.

I am very familiar with different music production programs: DAWs like Logic, Reason, GarageBand, and Audacity. Also with recording/editing sound in general if someone is interested in a sound-based project.

In terms of materials, I have a basement full of junk that might be useful if you need anything. Like, anything. It’s probably down there. Raw wood, building materials, old keyboards, glassware, cabinets, vintage hats, fabric, mirrors, spray paint, lamps…

Other skills include: sewing, painting, pottery, drawing, and writing (I’d be happy to proof-read anything if that would help).

Also, I would love to be a sounding board for someone who needs help developing their ideas. Or help with brainstorming ideas to start with. Or help with problem-solving any roadblocks/creative obstacles.

I’m a pretty good researcher too, so if there is something you need help finding online or in person, let me know and I will do my best to help you track down what you need!

Like Brendan said most mechanical engineers don’t have much experience with coding (I definitely don’t) so I might be asking you for a little bit of help with my project! You definitely bring a different skill set to this class that would be useful for any project.

  • I can see you contributing all of the artistic side of a project as well as programming. Your 3D printing, sewing, painting, etc. skills will be good for giving any project some style and flare. And since most of the mechanical engineers in this class don’t have much programming experience outside of Matlab and Labview, your experience in other programming languages will be invaluable as well if a project requires it.
