Update April 13th-Fiber Optic Jellyfish

Good news is my project is complete! I had a goal of finishing up this project before Spring Break, which wasn’t possible due to some issues I had with getting the sensor working. I trudged away and worked really hard the past month on the photosensor and finally got it to behave the way I wanted it to. I unfortunately will not be here for the expo because I have Triathlon Collegiate National Championships that weekend, but my buddy Shawn Sprinkle was nice enough to offer to present for me. Here is a youtube of my  virtual presentation. Also, just a side note that the project looks way cooler in a dark room, but I needed a quiet space to film so one of the study rooms was my best bet.

Enjoy!

Wow, I can’t believe you finished already! The final project looks awesome! Have you ever though about shrink wrapping a clear plastic cover over the jello mold? This would allow for a fully transparent “head” instead of a white-opaque head. There are a few diy tutorials on youtube that might help with this.

Your project turned out nicely! The blinking lights are a nice touch. I’m glad your project will still make it to the expo.
