I have a few ideas on what I plan to do for this project. The first being making a coke can lamp. To do this I would use coke cans and by using wires, a hinge on some sort and a light bulb make a fixture. Though this is the main idea I currently have, I’d like to go to the recycling store and see if any other ideas come up by looking at what they have there. Once I do that, I should be able to get back on track and start actually constructing the project.

  • I really like the idea and aesthetic of using old glass coke bottles. I dont think I have seen a lamp made from these bottles so that will be pretty interesting. Just like Kira I recommend taking a visit to the ReSource yard to draw inspiration from.

  • Hey Katherine,
A coke can lamp sounds really interesting. I was trying to picture it in my head from your description. Where does the hinge come in? Is it between the lamp socket and the can? or is it part of the lampshade? Also is the entire lamp made from coke cans or just the shade part? Why coke cans, is it because they’re red?

Also, I went to ReSource in Boulder (on Arapaho) a while ago, and there were a lot of lamps there you could probably salvage the socket and wiring from. Or another place I might suggest is goodwill.
