Though the plastic rope would have been very cool with the upcycle project, I really like the twine you ended up going with. It gives a very natural aesthetic. The bottle you chose is also really cool, I like the design that is on the label of glass bottle. Really cool project.

I think incorporating the plastic bags as string would have added a great contrast to the naturalness of this piece. That being said I think it is much more aesthetically pleasing with the hemp instead. I really like your choice of wine bottle as well. The clear bottle allows more light to pass through your piece and the logo is very unique and interesting. Great job, I would buy one of these if I saw one in a store!!

  • The thin design of the bottles worked really well with the overall aesthetic of the project. It’s a good use for empty spare bottles and it brings a more organic feeling to any room that it’s in. Good Job

This was a very cool project! I really like that you were willing to change materials and the overall vision of the project, most people get too committed to their original ideas and are unable to adapt. I really like the aesthetic of the final product. Perfect choice of bottle, and the twine gives it a go with the flow vibe. The only thing is that I wish you had been able to bring it in to class, but I understand that it was full of water.

  • I think it’s really interesting that your original idea traveled a long way to get to your final project. In your presentation, I really liked your sketches: shading and depth were well done. Your presentation could have been a bit stronger on how you made the knot structure. I agree with Todd that the final project looks very nice and earthy.

  • Although your initial design with plastic was very intriguing it was more than understandable that you had to switch to hemp. The final design looks great and more earthy than the initial. I like how your upcycle project also addressed a particular need that you had; in this case a vine that needed some more love. Overall, a great use of upcyclable materials to address a problem.

  • I like how you incorporated your design process in the presentation and showed all of the different iterations that you went through and how you changed your design to accommodate all of the changes. I also like the wine bottle that was chosen to add to the aesthetic.

I like how you reconsidered your idea and the process of iteration in order to get to a final product. After you realized that water bottles wont work and/or the plastic bags to make the cords. Putting use of hemb is better in my opinion as in the looks and durability.
