Construction Timeline: Jewelry Box

I am building a Jewelry Box for my mom for mothers day.

4/7: Look up common wood sizes I can purchase to make manufacturing easier

4/9: Finish the CAD Design

4/12: Finish all of my drawings and talk to Marc in the ITLL building

4/14: Spend 2-3 Hours in the wood shop to start manufacturing

4/17: Buy Components: Knobs / Hinges / Draw Slides

4/19: Spend more time in the machine shop

4/24: Stain wood and assemble my project

I feel that all of these goals are achievable and will leave me enough time for if things go wrong, which they probably will! I am excited to start building my Jewelry box!

That looks like a very appropriate project schedule and it will be completed just in time before Mothers Day! Consider using wood glue to construct some of your jewelry box. That way you will use fewer screws that you will need to cover up to give it a nice finish and it is still fairly strong.

    Hi Ethan,

I wonder if maybe some kind of visual might help you to stay on track? Or maybe you could put these dates into google calendar, and set reminders for yourself. It looks like maybe you won’t have to buy any parts online, which is good because there’s lead times on that. It might be good to buy your parts first, to make sure everything you want is available. Good move on using standard sizes to make manufacturing easier!
