Pizza Bed Stand: Main Project Report Part 1

Hello again readers!

Its been a while but I’ve got big news, the pizza bed stand is done!

In case you missed my previous blog posts, my main project here was to build a pizza bed stand. My bedroom has these really awkward corners that aren’t 90 degrees so I have an odd triangular gap behind my bed that my pillows always fall into. This inspired me to build a triangular bed stand to fill the space and since the bed stand would be a triangle it lent itself to be pizza themed.

So over the last couple weeks I’ve been hard at work building my pizza furniture. I was fortunate enough to be able to do it all at my parents house. When I started building I was able to find a ton of free scrap wood at my parents house and they even had saws for me to cut the wood. You can check them out right below this sentence.

My first step in the building process was to cut out a frame for the bed stand along with triangular covers for the top and bottom. Then I screwed and nailed everything together except one cover. In the photos below, you may notice how the wood is obviously different, so I applied a varnish to stain the wood and make everything look the same way.

After varnishing everything I painted. And I painted well. I applied several coats of yellow so that the color was consistent before adding red paint to make the pepperoni!

Notice the perspective of the pizza slices and how the kinda droop down like a really big slice would if you held by the crust.

Once I painted everything I moved onto the final steps. I cut down some wooden dowels and screwed those in to make legs for my bed stand. Now it can stand up on its own. Then I added the golden hinge to the outside with super glue. No screws, just super glue. It’s very nice. Check it out below!

The budget for this thing wasn’t too bad either. I got all the wood for free. I did the labor for free. So I only had to buy paint and varnish which came out to about $10!

Well folks, that’s my pizza bed stand. Hope you like it!

I was happy to see how the bedstead came out and i hope that it is something that you will use in your room here to prevent the pillows from falling down. The final touches which were added look great. Hopefully those legs stand up with the thin wood on the bottom. Overall nice work on the project!

This looks great! I like the aesthetic and how you designed it with a pizza shape and used a pizza pattern on it! I turned out great! That’s great that it was only 10 dollars. Have you thought of spray painting the legs so they match a little better? Great job!

This bed stand is great. Not only is it totally a functional piece of furniture but it also follows a sweet pizza aesthetic. I love the straight edges and sharp corners created by the stand. I’ve never cut out a triangle out of wood before so I’m sure that was interesting to do. I’m super jealous that you spent $10 on your project, mine was super expensive and now I wish I want’s broke. Can’t wait to come over someday and see this piece in action.

I really like the project. It a funky design and the aesthetic is great. The idea to make the top open up was a fantastic alternative to using a drawer. Making something that you’ll actually use for a very specific problem is awesome. Only thing I could think of changing would be to paint the legs. Nice job!
