Below are some images of my final project:

Description:

The objective of the game is two roll two dice and sum that total. Flip the tokens up that sum to this number and those tokens can no longer be used. Try to have all tokens flipped up.

Aesthetic:

“I smoke cigars look” and rustic

Construction:

First I purchased all of the materials, then I had the wood cut at home depot to a size that could fit into the laser cutter.

Next I cut the woods 4 borders, then I made the wood piece that would serve as a blocker for the dice, last I cut the base.

Next I rastered a crown onto the bottom of the base.

After this I cut the tokens and rastered domino numbers on them.

Then I drilled out holes in the tokens and fed them through the metal rod and fit it to the box.

Lastly I glued the cork onto the base for the dice rolling surface.

Cost:

Metal Rod: $3

Box wood: $10

Token Wood: $8

Cork: $2

Glue: $3

Total: $26

  • This game has a very interesting train checkers look to them. You could always sand the sides down so that they would flip up better?

  • Looks like a cool project, I wonder if you could put some laser cut spacers in between the wood slats so that they don’t catch on each other

The final product is really cool, the burnt aesthetic adds a lot too and really brings it together. With some of the pieces being a little off, did you consider working the unevenness into the aesthetic or is it something that you would like to be updated?

I think the burn marks are actually pretty cool. I am excited to see it at expo and I think it’s cool that you are going to add the numbers to the backs of the pieces as well.

Do you think your product sucessfully acheived the “I smoke cigars” look? The domino tokens are dope.

Seems like a cool game and I think you hit the aesthetic you were trying to get. I’m thinking the cork might shrink and expand on you if it gets any humidity. Good Job!

I like how I can see your desired aesthetic through the construction process. It was really smart using dominoes instead of numbers. Will you redo anything for expo? I love the crown.

I like that you took a picture of the lad at home depot cutting your wood. The I smoke cigars aesthetic is super cool. Will you put the numbers on the other side?

Awesome project, seems like you put a lot of thought in this. Excited to try this board game at our expo!

  • Did you start a fire in the laser printer in the ITLL? That seems pretty dangerous. Maybe you should work on being a better engineer. Otherwise this is an interesting board game that looks fun to play. Could you make it into a drinking game?
