Main Project Inspirations: 2 potential options

I am still unsure of what topics I would like to explore for the main project aesthetic. I have a few ideas I believe would be fun to explore though! The first project I have in my mind is the aesthetic of machining and fabrications, particularly mill machines and cnc operations.

To me this is one of the most fascinating fabrication processes that exist! Only problem is with covid, I am unsure about how to tackle an idea like this. Maybe I could create something that brings to life the history of machining. I imagine this idea will easily go over budget quickly. I like the aesthetic here as well as the idea of extreme precision. On the other hand I was considering something more natural as a possible exploration for my main post. This idea was the idea of trees that refuse to die, that is trees that you see flourishing through rocks or always chasing the sun.

These are two very different topics but both really speak to me! Machining is just beautiful in a sort of exploration of how far we have come as a society and how we can make absolutely anything we set our minds to! Now the machines are smart enough to do it for us! On the other hand look at this cool tree! Look how it refuses to give up and just keeps growing! This tree has such a strong message that I believe every individual can learn from!

I look forward to comments to see what you guys think would be cool to see!

    Hey Peter!

I think these are both really interesting concepts for a project, and they both have a great aesthetic to them. I love the feelings and emotions that you have regarding both ideas. I see how the machining aesthetic could be brought to life in a dynamic way, but I’m curious– do you have ideas of how to make the growing tree dynamic? Either way, I think these are some awesome ideas, and I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
