My Personal Aesthetic

Students were asked what is your personal aesthetic? What major 20th Century design movements does it draw on? What environments or experiences in your past has inspired it? The places you grew up in, a band you saw while younger, a game you were addicted to? After thinking about this, will your main project stay in this aesthetic, or will you try something new, outside your comfort zone? If you have news about your project, discuss that in this post too.

Outdoorsy Personal Aesthetic

For most of my life I have personally identified with the outdoorsy aesthetic. Until very recently most of the clothes I owned had some sort of functional purpose, besides of course being clothes. Take my pants for example. The Jeans I wore also served as my work jeans, and any other pair of pants or…

My Personal Aesthetic

In my free time I enjoy working out, playing hockey, and being outdoors which in return defines my personal aesthetic. Before attending the University of Colorado Boulder, I took two years off of school and played semi professional hockey in Canada chasing my dream of becoming a division 1 athlete. Therefore, I consider myself to…

The Aesthetic of Ben Husa

I’d never really thought of my personal aesthetic until this class.  I assume that I, like many others have a lot of different aesthetics that we identify with.  I would say that growing up in Colorado, I would like to think that I have a relatively outdoorsy esthetic that aligns me with the mountains and…

My Thrifty Surfy Aesthetic

When I really started to think about this post, I was worried I didn’t quite have an aesthetic. I see people with a continuous aesthetic all around me. Instagram seems to be the hub of personal aesthetics. I know a lot of people who like to keep their page to a certain color palette or…

My Personal Casual Aesthetic

My personal aesthetic would definitely be a more laid back, casual and sport related type of aesthetic. The majority of the clothes and shoes that I own are either workout clothes or relaxing clothes such as sweat pants and hoodies. I have never really thought about my personal aesthetic before this post but this aesthetic…

Personal Aesthetic

I believe my preferred personal aesthetic is the beach cowboy style; a mix between a mountain cabin/house and a tropical or seafaring style. I grew up near the coast of Venezuela in South America; I was an hour away from the beach and fifteen minutes away from the coastal mountain. My hobbies  related mostly to…

Personal Aesthetic: Japanese Inspired

I think that my personal aesthetic is a combination of a couple of things. It is inspired from minimalism and Bauhaus partially. Mostly because I’m cheap so all of those aesthetics play right into it. I also really enjoy function over form products, but I don’t have a lot of them currently. I think that…

My Personal Aesthetic: Cars

One of my personal interests is cars, and I find futuristic designs of car particularly aesthetically pleasing to look at. I think the reason why most people, including myself, love cars is because it gives us a sense of freedom. Having a car gives you the opportunity to go where you want, when you want.…

My personal aesthetic stems from my upbringing and a lot of what my friends and family liked. My dad grew up in a military family and moved around from Indiana to California to Florida, so he experienced many different lifestyles and experiences and my moms was almost the exact opposite. She grew up in a…

My Personal Aesthetic: Active Outdoors

In this blog post, I’ll be talking briefly about my own personal aesthetic, which has been molded by the activities I undertake. As mentioned in previous blog posts, two of my favorite activities are snowboarding and dirt biking. My personal aesthetic is unique since it is a mix of the two vastly different aesthetics. I’d…

My Personal Aesthetic: Many Influences

My aesthetic takes influence from many different aspects. Sports wise, I love English soccer and so I like a lot of British things (which effects my vocabulary), but I’m also into adventure sports like hiking, climbing, and skiing, so I feel like I tend to be into the outdoors and appreciative of nature (and being…

My Personal Aesthetic

My personal aesthetic for Thanos’ Gauntlet in my opinion is pretty hard to pin down. In my head I believe that there is a unique aesthetic to Marvel movies, but solely thinking of Thanos’ Gauntlet makes me think of a more viking aesthetic.  For each of the heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), there…

This particular prompt has been a rather complicated and difficult one for me to think about since I don’t give much time into determining a consistent feeling or tone in my visual appearance. In other words, I don’t think I have a concrete visual aesthetic I ascribe to in real life or online. I know…

Personal Aesthetic Transformation

I’ve been rocking the beachy, California aesthetic for a long time. Growing up in California less than 30 minutes from the ocean, it was hard not to rely on shorts, tank tops, and sandals as my go-to style. There were elements of “beach” incorporated in almost all of my spaces and belongings. There was guaranteed…

I personally have never put much thought towards my personal aesthetics, but generally I tend to choose the products I own or the clothes I wear primarily focused on there desired performance. I grew up in the Northeast so for a significant portion of the year it was wicked cold. As a result, I realized…

I don’t think I could nail down my personal aesthetic in a few words even if I tried. In fact, I know I couldn’t, otherwise I would have by now. Over the years, I believe my aesthetic has taken aspects from different hobbies and interests I have, including video games, anime, cars, Japanese designs, rock/metal…

My personal Aesthetic

My personal Aesthetic as I’m sure most people’s is, is not very well defined.  However through many of my previous designs just in the products that I purchase, there are some commonalities.  The first and arguably biggest part of my personal aesthetic is my attraction to glossy smooth textures, curves and wood.  And this aesthetic…

My Personal Aesthetic

For my personal aesthetic I view myself as more of a hands on mountain man type of person. Additionally, I like to view myself as a person who refuses to give up just like the picture of this tree below. I really love nature and being in the mountains. My mountain man side constantly has…

My Personal Aesthetic: Cartoons

One of my personal aesthetics is cartoons. I grew up watching Cartoon Network. In early childhood watching Courage the cowardly dog, Dexter’s laboratory and The power puff girls was something I looked forward to every day. Later Pokemon, Bayblade and Dragon Ball Z became my favourite. In primary school I used to sketch my favourite…

My Personal Aesthetic

I would probably describe my personal aesthetic as that of a working tourist. I’m the type of person that when there isn’t anything to do I tend to lose my mind a little bit, but on the flip side I also really enjoy taking time off to travel and see different parts of the world.…

Similar to a lot of other students in this class, I haven’t ever really thought about what my personal aesthetic is, but as I look around my room, my predominant aesthetic changes based on the season. For example, for winter clothes, I have mainly hoodies/jackets and sweatpants, and for the summer, the main aesthetic seems…

Sporty/Casual Person Aesthetic

In terms of my personal aesthetic I think that I the majority of my style is a combination of a sporty and casual aesthetic. In terms of the sporty aesthetic I think that this has a lot to do with my involvement in playing competitive sports throughout high school and college. Due to this I…

My Personal Aesthetic

My Personal Aesthetic My Personal Aesthetic I would describe ad functional with elements of comfort and softness. A good way to think about it is being between a cube (functional) and sphere (comfortable). I attached an image below representing this concept. Figure. 1 Functional, My Aesthetic, Comfortable (Left to Right) My core aesthetic is in…

My Personal Aesthetic: Alpenglow

My personal aesthetic is broad, with many different facets– some of which I have expressed in previous projects and blog posts. One facet of my aesthetic is built off of my  experience living in Colorado, and being around a wide variety of landscapes and nature. I am also very inspired by the sky, clouds,…

My Personal Aesthetic

My style is heavily influenced by a mix of my hobbies of snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding, and photography. I think this is a situation when photos tell more than words, so I’ll let these photos show my personal aesthetic and speak for themselves.   I seem to own a lot of Adidas.   All of…

Modern Craftsmen

My personal aesthetic originated from what was seen as the Arts and Crafts movement in the early 1900s. The aesthetic is largely based off of what my mom saw as the peak of house styles known as Craftsmen. Growing up a big influence in my design tastes was from hearing my mom talk about Craftsmen…

My Personal Aesthetic: Comfy Coze

My current personal aesthetic is “comfy coze”. All the thoughts and feelings that the word comfy elicits is the aesthetic I am rocking right now.  I personally think my aesthetic changes with life and we’ve been in and out of quarantine/isolation/ it’s about to dump snow all weekend, this is the aesthetic I embody. The…

Personal Aesthetic: Function over Form

My personal aesthetic is hard to define, mostly because it draws on a couple of design movements because I received influence from many different places throughout my life. The primary element of my aesthetic is minimalism. I believe that only things that serve a purpose should be part of any design, and anything unnecessary is…

Personal Aesthetic: Dynamic Motion

I would describe my personal aesthetic as dynamic motion. I find myself drawn to things that are fast, things that have flowing visuals, and things that have a sense of movement even though they are sometimes in a static medium. I have always enjoyed running, riding my bike, and keeping myself active. I also dislike…

How do you pick just one personal aesthetic?

I’ve always had a hard time picking favorites. If you ask me my favorite food then I’ll ask “what’s the weather?” If you ask me what my favorite color is, I’ll ask about the object in question. I feel like there is always more to these questions than just having a favorite. For example, my…

My Personal Aesthetic – Neon Aesthetic

I think my personal aesthetic stems from my personal choice of music as well as my other hobbies such as gaming. If you google “gaming” and go to images, immediately you see bright colors against a dark background. RGB lighting, pink, blue, all neon colors that POP in the dark. I have always enjoyed how…

Personal Aesthetics : Rough to Refined

I would say that my personal aesthetic tastes have been developed mostly through my woodworking experiences. I have been doing some form of woodworking since high school, and for the past two years I have worked as a builder for Boulder Furniture Arts, a custom furniture shop here in town. Much of our standard furniture…
