Light Up Pearl: Final Design Report Part 2

I believe I accomplished the main intent I was going for with this project, but it didn’t turn out aesthetically exactly how I had envisioned it to. This was due to a combination of lack of skills and money. I had very ambitious goals for this project and wanted to create/design something I had never done before. With that in mind, I did have to be mindful of the skills I already possessed versus learning new skills. I had originally wanted my design to have…

Lighting Up Pearl: Final Report Part 1

Introduction: My project has been a long journey that began with my own passions and educational background as well as inspirations found online. This project was a major inspiration for me. Close-up of the design inspiration. My Environmental Design background has led me to become interested in spaces for people from buildings, to parks, to whole cities. Pearl Progress 4/13

Pearl St. Progress 4/6

I have both made a lot of progress since my last blog post and made none at all. The things I still need to do in the following couple of days, I wanted to get done this last weekend. I need to order acrylic from Colorado Plastics, but am unsure exactly how that process works. I need to buy my switches from the Electrical Engineering shop for three dollars each. I also need to purchase glue that will glue perf. boards to acrylic and some…

3/30 Pearl’s Progress Report

I have come to a larger roadblock in my design process at this point. I had high aspirations and hopes before Spring Break, but now I am feeling the pressure of time and getting my project done. I wasn’t able to work on my project much over break due to the lack of equipment available to me. I was planning on 3D printing my buildings for my project and letting the LED lights shine through them, but the 3D printing is proving too be too…
