Modern Bohemian Planters: Updates

I have made a decent amount of progress on my modern bohemian planter project and have collected some key materials to begin the project. I have found a few promising candidates for the planters. The first is an old coffee pot that will make for a perfect container to plant succulents. For the terrariums I am actively searching for discarded lightbulbs which I plan on hollowing out and polishing for them. I have started researching how to create self-sustaining terrariums, which would minimize the maintenance required. To complement the glass planters, I am looking at ways to texture and add natural materials like wood accents to maintain the modern bohemian aesthetic.

As far as fabrication I am currently looking at ways to mount the light bulb terrarium. Potentially creating a 3d printed stand or a wooden carved stand. I am looking for something that fits the boho chic vibe. Once I get the bulbs, I will go to the stores to source small plants like succulents, stones, and moss for the planters. In the meantime, I am continuing to look for additional glass items I can use for the project.

  • Hi Kyle, this is so cool! What kinds of plants/animals is your terrarium specialized to, what living conditions do those organisms need? I would personally choose the wood carved stand over 3D printed because I think wood reads more boho than PLA or other plastics.

  • Hey Kyle,
    I like your project so far. I think you made really good progress so far. I like how you are looking into a elf-sustaining terrarium. This is a really good idea if you are not good at taking care of thinks. You wouldn’t want to kill your terrarium. ;-;
    I like how you are thinking about 3d printing a holder. How long do you think it will take you to finish your terrarium?
