Y2K/Pop Punk Revival Outfit
For my final project, I decided to upcycle a pair of old jeans that didn’t fit me anymore into a top, skirt/apron, and forearm guards. The top was heavily inspired by Y2K themes of nature and obnoxious amounts of denim. The skirt is meant to be an accessory that you wear over something else, similar to the layering that was popular in the 90s Punk and 2020s Pop Punk revival scenes. I used a gold chain as a motif to connect all the pieces of the outfit, outside of them merely having the same fabric. The top has a corset back, which is laced up with the gold chain, the skirt is tied around the waist with another gold chain, and the forearm guards are adjustable with the chain once again. This was my first time making an outfit and working with denim, so it was definitely a challenge, but I am more than pleased with how the final product turned out!
