For this project, I wanted to create a minimalist wallet. I’ve had a few different wallets in the past, and none have really worked for me. I recently upgraded to a Ridge wallet, but the issue with that is that it’s difficult to get a card out of the middle of the wallet. To fix this, I decided to try to make a wallet where you swipe through your cards.

After 3D printing the parts for the wallet, I realized that I would need a piece to help stabilize the exterior. I really wanted this to have as few parts as possible to keep the minimalist aesthetic, and also be modular, so the color, texture, and material could all change in the future. Because of this, I decided that I needed to change the design.

For my final design, I ended up scrapping 3 of the pieces I had in my original design. This made the wallet slimmer and made it more true to the minimalist aesthetic. Overall, this works much better than the original design. In the future, it would be cool to make the front clamp out of wood or steel rather than plastic.
