Art Nouveau Suncatcher
For this upcycling project, I made an Art Nouveau suncatcher out of old pill bottles. I used a heat gun to get the labels off without leaving a sticky residue, and then used a hot knife to cut off the top and bottom of the bottle, and slice through the middle so I could open it up and lay it flat. I then used the heat gun to heat up the plastic to be able to lay it flat. I designed some Art Nouveau-esque flowers and motifs in Adobe Illustrator, and used the laser cutter in the Idea Forge to cut the designs out of the pill bottle strips. Lastly, I had some clear Elmer’s glue that I poured into a yogurt lid (to act as a mold) and added my laser-cut flowers and motifs! This project turned out better than I thought it would, so I was pleased with the results!
