Sporty Electric Car Design

This project proved to be a little difficult at the beginning seeing that all of us had different ideas and we couldn’t come to a solid final design for a little while but we knew we wanted to go for a more sports car aesthetic. When we finally decided on a final car design we incorporated car design aspects from cars like the Ford GT, Tesla Roadster, Lotus Evija, the McLaren 570s coupe, and a few others. The final design was only drawn for half the car so we had AI help us reflect the other half of the car while also making some pictures from different angles of how the car might look to help us visualize it better. The next step for us was making dimensions for the car and by printing the car design in landscape and measuring from the print out we multiplied those dimensions by 2. Finally we started making the cardboard design, so by sectioning out different panels on the car we were able to have different group members working on different sections of the car at all times. At times we would run into issues like small differences in dimensions for the panels and have to size up or down certain parts of the design. There were also some scheduling issues but we all found solutions for how we could work around this. Starting with tape to connect all the pieces together we were able to get a good idea of how the car would look and any edits we would have to make until we switched over to glue to make the design cleaner and more uniform. Final part was gluing the design to a base and adding some supports so that it wouldn’t fall over. The final few pictures are the final product.
