Had a lot of trouble finding the jacket to use as the base from a thrift store, eventually landed on the one and started drafting with tape on it. Drafted the design of a racing jacket that takes inspiriation from the original Apple macintosh, being the catalyst for the 80’s Retro Tech Age aesthetic. Included the moodboard-ing portion of my thought process as well. Materials wise, was going to use ribbons for stripes but they aren’t machine-wash friendly so I opted to instead go for thrifted t-shirts of different colors, cut bottom seams + more as needed into strips to layer for stripes. Put colors together into layered strip with colorway of the retro apple logo from the original macintosh era. Progress going well, fabric adhesive may be sleeve but works perfect for the front.
Stretch goals for after the assignment: hand-sowing/embroidering the ‘hello’ text with proper fabric, stitching the strip into the sleeve since adhesive started coming off under strain, and adding in other minor details on the backside. Overall happy with how it turned out in the end 🙂
