For my upcycle project I am working on creating a dnd map that is in the Steampunk aesthetic. The pillars of Steampunk that I found were adventurous, Victorian themed, and a emphasis on mechanical mechanisms and steam power, specifically with a used of copper and bronze, for “retro futuristic” applications.
For my dnd map I decided to focus on making an air ship this captures the retro futuristic piece of Steampunk as the closest thing to a airship that exists is a blimp or hot air balloon. This also captures the first pillar of being adventurous by being a dnd map which is an adventure based ttrpg and by being a vehicle that flies through the air. In order to capture the Victorian era consept the ship is based on a Galleon hull which existed from the 16th to 18th century, additionally exhaust ports will be made in order to capture both the third pillar of steam power and the emerging technology of the Victorian era. Finally to reinforce the third pillar their will be 2 gears put on the main deck to mimic flywheels of an engine. If time allows I might try to power these with a motor. This ship hull will be supported by 1 ballons that will mimic a zeplin and hot air balloon hybrid I am gave them a metallic look in order to push the retro futuristic look.
