Skill Sets and Personal Aspirations: Alex Rivas

Skill Set: Being a TAM (technology, arts, and media) minor here at CU means that I do a lot of creative work. Layout designs, picture edits, logo creation, things like that. I have more than 8 years of Adobe Photoshop experience, and about 5 of Adobe Illustrator experience. I know how to do some coding as well, HTML and CSS. Those are what I am best at. Therefore, for this project, I can do any sort of illustrations, poster creations, or help in aesthetic design decisions and things along those lines.

Personal Aspirations:  I really want to challenge myself to create a more functional piece, as I am used to creating art for arts sake, or all digital designs. I want to learn some things about circuits and Arduino. I want to become more familiar with wood working and power tools as well. I have taken one course here at CU that very briefly introduced power tools, as I think it is a good life skill.  I will try to incorporate both of these things into my next project.

Professionally, my goals have nothing to do with this! I want to work in the advertising field and work with the creative side, rather than the strategy. I want to help form campaigns, commercial ideas, print ads, social media management.

I like that the skills you have help you do some creative works like layout designs and logo creations. I’ve always fascinated by the designs people come up for their logos. I really appreciate that you want to create a functional design for the project. Stepping out your comfort zone can be challenging. I am looking forward to see what you’re gonna come up with. Good luck!
