Final Stretch: Upside Down Fish Tank

I am almost done with the project, about 80% of the way.

The fish tank part took me a long time as the curing time for acrylic glue takes 24 hours to reach 90% strength. After building the fish tank for the first time, it started to leak so I had to repair it. The featured image is what my fish tank turned out to be. I went ahead an purchased aquarium necessities such as pumps and filters seen below for the fish tank as well. This project costed more than I had expected.

The final step is to build the drawer that the fish tank will sit on. I have already cut out most of the pieces and started to assemble. Some parts were too narrow to use so I had to wood glue parts together. I am currently still wood gluing and will begin to assemble the drawer tomorrow. This can be seen below.

That is really impressive that you’re already 80% complete with your project!! Good job on getting for far ahead. Also, it looks super good. Are you using anything else other than glue to seal and waterproof the acrylic? Do you know how well this will work. My senior design project involves a lot of waterproof and no-leak components. I will happily help you waterproof your tank if need be.

This tank is coming along really well and it is good to see that it is mostly assembled. I am really curious to see how it looks when it is holding some water and some fish to go along with it!! nice work on getting the project going!

Jason, I am glad to see your tank it coming together well thus far. What kind of aesthetic elements will convey your intentions? It seems like you have the functional elements fleshed out and I am excited to see how to you encompass the remaining components of the project. Cheers!
