You’re presentation was very well put together, and I could tell you were very prepared for it. I was also impressed by the artifact itself. You did such a great job manufacturing, and the fine craftsmanship really stood out. I loved getting to play chess at expo.

The chess board looks really cool. If you wanted to add to it, you could make it into a container to hold the chess pieces with the board as the lid. Also, you could build a nice rotating base to give it even more dynamic action. It was cool to see the history of chess in your presentation. Maybe you can be the next Bobby Fisher.

The Chess board turned out amazing. I know you put a lot of time in in the makerspace and it came out great. Adding the drawers and everything would have added a whole lot of time but hopefully the high quality of the project and great aesthetic can persuade Prof. Hertzberg that the game being played is dynamic enough. Overall, great job.

Both your vision and execution are well refined and your thoughtfulness throughout the design process is clear. It is also admirable that you chose to dive so wholeheartedly into woodworking. Fantastic that you can now add woodworking to your resume with confidence! Another aspect of your project that I greatly enjoyed was your investigation regarding the history and origins of chess. Awesome that this was able to inform your purpose in creating a chess board along with the overall aesthetic of your design. I hope you go on to create custom chess pieces as well. Great presentation and project!

The board turned out looking great! I hope its dynamic property of the game being played is enough to count for the dynamic requirement! The Contemporary Asian aesthetic was a great choice for this game. Chess already fits those aesthetics and you utilized that to your advantage. Great work! Can’t wait to see in on Saturday.

  • Great presentation. The aesthetic is very unique for the object. The aesthetic is well thought out, and I like how you blended two seemingly unrelated subjects. I think your dimensions are also well thought out. The final project matches the asian aesthetic very well. Nice job!!
