Final Project

 What’s up everyone?

Crazy that I’m writing this from my living room table, now fully defined as my at-home workspace.

Merci merci. Cheers!

Construction:

  1. Writing python classes for upper_square, square, and circle
  2. Converting to .mp4
  3. Reaching out to artists and researching music
  4. Creating text frames in Adobe Illustrator
  5. Import everything into Adobe After Effects
  6. Hours and hours and hours of editing
  7. Drafting, watching, re-watching, taking notes for improvement, making revisions
  8. Final Draft
  9. Presentation
  10. Report

For some reason, python was the most intimidating. I think it may have taken the least amount of time, however, I never figured out how to make a koch curve, like I had originally hoped. More to come…

Challenges faced:

  1. Adobe exporting time
  2. Adobe bugs
  3. Empty my cache
  4. Couldn’t figure out koch curve or Sierpinski
  5. DIdn’t even up using a few tracks because i didn’t want to just “rip from youtube”…

Takeaways:

  1. I got to learn python
  2. I got to learn adobe
  3. I got to practice writing in french
  4. I got to listen to awesome music!
  5. I did a thing in the quarantine 🙁

I really like how you did a lot of the fractal patterns mathematically, some of them must have been a real head scratcher! I also really like how you took a different approach from most others by using digital media to fulfill your aesthetic as opposed to a physical artifact.

  • I like how you included snippets from the news about coronavirus. With how the class has had to change, and how our day to day lives have had to change, it really helps bring together the whole video in the context of where we are right now.

I really like the consistent aesthetic of the video. You obviously put a lot of time into the actual production as well as the learning curve for visual programming in python.

    Emily-

I really enjoyed how unique and specific your aesthethic was. I don’t think many others narrowed down their aesthethic that well. It’s cool that you were always planning on a digital project so your digital product seems complete and not like a backup. It was also really cool the way you worked applied math into your fractals

As a neutral question, what influenced which fractal design was paired with which track of music?
