The idea that I want to pursue is a large floor pouf that looks like a giant tomato pin cushion. I have been playing with this idea in my head for a long time now, mainly to find a use for all my scrap fabric and batting. I will be calling on the arts and crafts movement, to show the slow, simple process of creating a specified piece for a home, and I will be referencing pop art, with the pushing of object size to a comical degree.

I have printed out a large fabric sphere pattern for this purpose, as well as making a star shape to act as the top leaf part. I will also need to pattern out a cone shape for the little chile (I think that’s what it is…) to hang off the side

I plan to buy the outer fabric, but then stuff the cushion with all the leftover fabric, fiber, yarn, and stuffing I have left over from other projects. I will also be using an invisible zipper the same color as the main fabric so I can stuff the cushion to my liking, or add more in the future.

  • Hey Lily, I liked your idea and think it would be a great design and a cool aesethic piece to have in your house. It has a practical use but also shows creativity with the pin pad imitation. Excited to see where you take this and how difficult it may be to put together.

  • Wow, this looks really cool! I am curious to know how large this pouf will be when all is said and done. Do you have an estimate for the diameter? Also, I always wondered what the little chilli pepper was too…
