This project shows the Soviet Realist Style through the following characteristics:
1. Hammer and Sickle Logo
2. Shows resistance to fachism in the bombing scene
3. Shows the power of technology in the tank scene
4. Refers to the leader, Stalin, in one of the text reliefs.
5. Uses technology ( a light )
6. Resistance (The “OUT” written with sharpie on the outside)
I created the base and frame out of unused 3d printing filiment. Personally I consider this upcycled, but I don’t think it counts for this class. I used scrap acrylic for the images on the sides (which is my main upcycled part). I also got all of the electronics parts either from the ITLL/IF or from home (the battery is borrowed from a flashlight.
I have not previously documented the circuit very well so here is some explanation. The circuit is powered by single 18650 rechargeable battery. It has one resistor and a sliding switch as well as 3 LEDs in parallel.
Overall, I am happy with the concept of the project and the way that I followed the soviet realist style. I think my execution was not amazing, especially having to pivot 2 nights before the deadline because the previous design did not turn out very well. For additional work on the project I would redesign the lithophanes again to try to make the contrast better and make it overall cleaner.
