Aesthetic: Nautical
Project: Hat / Key / Jacket Rack with Hooks
For my final project, I made a wall-mounted rack that can hold hats, keys, and jackets while adding a coastal/nautical vibe to it’s space.
Here are the three characteristics I wanted to showcase:
1. Painted wooden board featuring an ocean scene with mini sailboats.
2. Rusted anchor-shaped hooks on the front for hanging items.
3. Boat cleat hooks mounted along the sides for additional storage.
My plan for this project was to use a rectangular wooden board as the base and hand paint a simple ocean scene with waves and small sailboats to create a coastal feel. The color scheme of this aesthetic is super important, so I primarily used blues, white, and browns. I attached anchor shaped hooks across the front for primary use and mount boat cleats on the sides and bottom to add both functionality and detail. I also rusted the hardware to enhance the nautical aesthetic and give it a worn look.

After painting I needed two other pieces. I chose to get anchor hooks, and sand them down. Turns out some had a cool gold color underneath. I also 3d printed boat cleat hooks, I only had red filament so I decided to paint them white to fit in better. Picked up some fasteners and a drill and tied it all together. Super happy with how this turned out!
