This is an art deco inspired shelving unit. The key aspects of the art deco symmetrical designs, rich materials like inlaid wood and chrome, and vibrant colors. For this design I took inspiration from the checkered tile floors that became popular during this time. I also found inspiration form art deco style kitchens that combined darker wood with the black and white tiles.
The project also emphasizes sustainability. It was constructed using upcycled tiles and leftover wood from a previous build, transforming what might have been discarded into a functional and visually engaging piece. By repurposing these materials, the design not only reflects Art Deco aesthetics but also highlights the value of thoughtful, resourceful craftsmanship.
