For the final project we had to do something similar to the first, choose an aesthetic and make some physical object that embodied it fully. I wanted my projects to be cohesive, and so I decided to use the grunge aesthetic again, but this time I wanted to make a pair of boots instead of a bag.
I wanted to challenge myself slightly with this project so I wanted to upcycle all of my materials even though it wasn’t required since reuse is a main part of grunge.
Again I went to Art Parts to pick out materials, and found some really cool fabrics that I could use. I also went to Plato’s Closet (a consignment store) to pick up a pair of Doc Martens that I could use as a base for my boots. In order to actually make them, I first found a pattern online of the shapes of the leather panels that make up the Docs and used that to cut out my fabrics. I then glued and in some places stitched on a new exterior to give these boots some new life.
