I chose to make an industrial inspired lamp, characterized by exposed structural elements, such as steel pipes. Upcycle Aesthetic Exploration.
I began by drawing up a schematic for the lamp to find the assortment of piping needed. Original Schematic.
After experimenting with bulb fixtures, I decided the safest and best-looking approach was to purchase a fixture by itself. I also found a touch switch to add into the lamp so that the user can tap any part of the lamp to turn it on/off or change the brightness. I used butt-splices and secure end connections to wire the fixture to the touch switch and then to the outlet plug. I also cut out a small piece of wood for the base and drilled a hole for the cable to pass through and applied a dark wood stain. Assembly.
