I like your use of drift wood. The light-up mushroom is a great idea and turned out really nicely. Good job!

  • I LOVED the light-up mushroom idea! It will be so beautiful to hang on a wall somewhere! I would love to see the process of how you made the silicone so I may totally copy your idea for a light on my wall someday! Totally loved your project!

That driftwood is so cool. It looks exactly like the sort of thing mushrooms would grow on. The silicone mushrooms are pretty chill, too. I wonder if you could make a mold so you could cast the mushrooms with the lights in them.

  • Great project and a nice inspiration. I really see this going on the side of my bed. Add covers to the batteries
Or add these new USB rechargeable batteries where you can plug it to an iPhone charger. I think it is a great choice.

Very creative and aesthetically beautiful, cool integration of functionality and looks , liked your project a lot.

  • Neat design, I could not hear how/if you would stand it right side up (vertical). Perhaps you could use different colors to help with the aesthetic. I like the idea that the lights could be bugs.

Looks really good. Super finished look and natural looking. You can tell you put in a good amount of time into it. How well does it perform as a lamp function?

Nailed the natural look. I initially thought the mushroom were already growing from the driftwood! It would be great if it plugged into the wall.

  • liked the toy/playful idea. Thought it was cool that you found driftwood from California. How long do batteries last? how will you mount it? What do you intend to use it for in the future? Really cool project

Awesome work! I thought the piece of wood with plastic mushrooms coming out looked cool before you even turned the lights on.

  • I love the wood! It was a good find on the beach! You did a really good job with the mushrooms. In the future, I would maybe consider adding a backing to cover the wiring.

Drift wood is an amazing material, so I am glad you were able to put use its inherent beauty. The silicon mushrooms are really unique looking, and I imagine it was quite difficult to embed the LEDs inside. I am looking forward to seeing some images of the process!

  • I really like the overall look of the final product. I will be very interested on how long the batteries last since it is battery powered and not plugged into the wall.

Excellent choice in wood, I’m glad you could find a use for that. Normally I have stuff like that but it just sits around my home without much use ever. I’m impressed with the electrical work, you could bring it camping.

Very cool! Having an adapter to plug into the wall so that you don’t run through batteries might be cool.

I’m not sure how you did it, or if it required a whole lot of experimentation, but your mushrooms look very realistic! And they really transmit light very well, I hope you can hang this up and get some good use out of it!

I really like the “natural look” you went for and the lighting in the lamp! Fun idea and cool college room decoration. I’m sure this will be a good conversation starter 🙂

  • This is a super cool lamp. The mushrooms make me think of glowing mushrooms you find in fantasy type video games and such.

  • That wood is so cool! Your mushrooms look super realistic too. awesome job!

  • These mushrooms look sweet- I like the psychedelic angle. It would be amazing if the mushrooms could sort of “breathe” their light- not sure the circuit that would be required, but having them dim and brighten would make this piece look alive. Very cool.

  • This is such a cool idea for a design. I like the natural appearance, although the mushrooms could be more aesthetically appealing on the log or blend more rather than looking unnatural on such a natural piece of wood.
