For my main project I’m creating a piece of furniture with varying aesthetics. More specifically, i’m focusing on refurbishing a chair and implementing a drawer below the seat. This increases the functionality of the chair while maintaining the overall aesthetic. I’m focusing on implementing the minimal aesthetic as well as a modern or vintage aesthetic based off the chair I find to refurbish.

This has a lot of practical uses in minimizing storage and having easy access to what ever is needed near the chair. Like having it by a work desk with pens, pencils, and paper to grab from instead of having clutter on the desk.
I love how you want to put the drawers on the side so you can open it even when you’re sitting! Two functions in one! I wonder if you have woodworking experience though? Without experience in it I can see this project proving to be difficult.
Hey Brandon, I like the dynamic aspect of your design. I would focus on what aesthetic you want to follow as you listed multiple ideas but I would narrow it down to just 1 to 3. Consider starting the project early if you don’t have any woodworking experience I have done a little woodworking and could lend you tools and offer help.
So functional! If you use it to study, the drawer is a good place for study snacks! I also agree that you could go to a thrift store and find retro chairs there to fit a retro aesthetic.
Hi Brandon,
Great idea. I like the chair idea. I love the side way drawer where you can open it while sitting down. That is really convenient. Great work.
Chair with drawer is something that I never thought of, but so useful.
I feel like your concept is well defined, but your aesthetic could be a bit more clear. I would push it into a more extreme place, if you want rustic/ vintage, make it appear very weathered and old. Your current plans look too much like a normal chair I feel. Other than that, your base idea is very workable.
Brandon,
I would buy this in a second. I think this is hilarious and the look of it is great. I think the woodworking part of this project will be challenging but the work will pay off if this works. If you want to make a business out of this, let me know.
Hi Brandon,
Ahhh chairs and drawers! How is this not a thing already? I really like it! I think it makes total sense about moving the drawer to the other side. If you want to have it as a vintage aesthetic, go find a chair at the Arc store and retro fit it.
