Main Project Aesthetics: Plans and Alternatives // Heider Iacometti

Last post I gave a rough idea of what my design is going to be. I showed a closed version of my night activated flower, however I didn’t show what it’s open, and beautiful, version is going to be, that is what is shown in my featured image. The featured image will help guide what my current aesthetic drawing is, as well as the alternatives I provide, so let’s get right to it.

So here is what my current aesthetic is roughly supposed to look like from the side. There’s a stem, petals, and a ground area that covers some of the actuation features. There are also 6 petals on my flower, but you can only see 2 so the 3x is trying to show that there should be 3 sets of 2. I’d say this is trying to represent a mix of realism due to the emulation of the flower, steam punk from the exposed gears, and it should contain a little bit of a fantasy aesthetic. This part is because in the best case scenario the flower will open when it’s dark out and have an LED make it glow, and close when it’s bright.

Switching to a minimalistic style, you get the following design.

Here there are explicitly 2 petals that act as half circles, and they’d close when you pull on a string. I think it’s rather boring but that’s minimalism for you. A different aesthetic style would be surrealism which is as follows.

It looks very similar to my aesthetic, however there’s a lot of asymmetrical parts, and I tried to create a semi melting look. I think this could be interesting but I prefer my aesthetic design instead.
