Here are the two projects I’ve worked on all semester:
Industrial Toolbelt:
Modular Storm Skirt:
Reflection:
This semester in class has been a journey of growth and discovery. One of the highlights was learning how to sew, a skill I had never explored before. This hands-on experience added a new layer of creativity and practicality to my design process. I completed two long-term projects, each with a strong focus on sustainability. The first was my Upcycle project, where I transformed scrap materials and 3D printer filament spools into a space-themed shelving unit for the ITLL makerspace. The second was my main project, a multifunctional rain poncho that doubles as an emergency shelter for outdoor activities. Both projects reflect my commitment to creating functional, eco-friendly designs.
Looking back, I’m proud of the progress I made, but I also acknowledge areas where I could improve. If I could do it over again, I would allocate more time to each phase and work ahead of schedule to avoid last-minute stress. These projects were a great way to push myself creatively and learn new techniques, but I learned that time management is key to executing ideas efficiently.
Overall, this semester has helped me grow as a designer, and I’m excited to apply the lessons I’ve learned to future projects.
