For my final project, I designed a desk lamp inspired by the Cyberpunk aesthetic. The lamp combines a 3D printed base with integrated LED strip lighting to create a glowing, high contrast look similar to the neon identity discs seen in Tron. My goal was to create a functional object that looks like it belongs in a futuristic, high tech urban environment. I designedd the base and structural components in CAD so I can build custom mounting geometry, integrate lighting channels, and create smooth curved forms inspired by cyber interfaces.
Final Project : Unrulr

For the design of my walls, I wanted to lean into the circuit panel and tech shapes. I left rectangular indents so that I could incorporate actual electrical components, where I decided to put wires.

After getting all my pieces printed, I had a few steps to take. The pieces were made of PLA so I needed to sand and spray paint black in order to follow the cyberpunk aesthetic I was looking for. This was a bit longer of a process than I was expecting, but it turned out pretty well.

Once fully constructed, I added the wiring to the outside. These wires are for pure aesthetic purposes only and are on all sides of the lamp. I think they bring a little pop of color, outside the actual light, that makes a massive difference in the base look. I would have loved to add other electrical components but ultimately decided a more simplistic and sleeker look was better for this lamp.
