For my final project, I started by 3D printing my CAD model from SolidWorks, which took about 11 hours to complete. After the print finished, I removed the support material and moved on to painting.
I chose a color scheme that stayed true to the original design, mainly dark brown tones with subtle gold accents on the arches and other raised details. The goal was to capture a “dark academia” feel while still keeping a sense of elegance.
Painting ended up being the most detailed and time-consuming part of the process. It took patience to apply the gold accents cleanly without overlapping onto the darker surfaces.
In the end, I was able to bring my CAD model to life as closely as possible with the tools I had. It was a really rewarding experience seeing a digital design turn into a physical piece.
