Surrealism is combining realistic forms with illogical relationships. My initial concept is to create a chair out of ivp flooring, and make it look like it is being torn out of the ground. My base idea is just the drawing currently, but I have also thought of implementing the foam padding on the bottom of the chair to seem like the flooring is fully installed. I have a ton of this material left over from redoing the hardwood floor in my house.

For my initial design I wanted to bend the flooring into the chair shape, so it would be one long construction from ground to the head rest. Aswell as the arm rests being more fluidly connected to the chair. This design allowed for a simple support structure that is represented in the drawing and was still used for the final design.

I added wood glue into the connection crevices of the flooring to ensure it is stable and strong. Then after building the structure of the chair, I was able to add the foam underlay which helps with the surrealism aspect of the floor getting torn up, since this is a part of the flooring process.
