For my final project I wanted to make a Bluetooth speaker inspired by the Midcentury Modern aesthetic. This aesthetic is characterized by straight lines and gentle curves, natural materials, and practical use. See here for my preliminary design ideas and intentions with the aesthetic: Preliminary Design.
I used bevel cut plywood to form a seamless wooden housing with slightly rounded edges, as well as four angled square dowels to prop up the speaker. Originally I designed a circuit to integrate the Bluetooth connection and amplifier, but it was much more cost effective to purchase a single premade PCB with a rechargeable battery port. Initial Assembly/Woodworking.
Once assembled, the housing was nicely sanded and gaps were filled with stainable wood filler. I then applied a warmer, light brown/orange wood stain to fit the Midcentury Modern color palette. Finally the PCB was mounted to the rear for easy access to the controls and battery. Full Final Project Journey.
